Edwards had great message for Barkley after Game 7 win

Anthony Edwards did not want to hear any excuses from Charles Barkley on Sunday after the Minnesota Timberwolves punched their ticket to the Western Conference Finals.

The Timberwolves won 98-90 over the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of their Western Conference semifinal matchup at Ball Arena in Denver.

TNT’s “Inside the NBA” crew spoke to Edwards after the contest. The postgame interview went viral on social media due to a humorous exchange between Edwards and Barkley.

“I have not been to Minnesota in probably 20 years,” Barkley told Edwards.

“Bring your a–,” Edwards responded.

20 years ago to the day was the last time the Timberwolves got past the second round of the NBA playoffs. Led by the All-Star trio of Kevin Garnett, Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell, the 2003-04 T-wolves similarly won a Game 7 duel against the Sacramento Kings on May 19, 2004.

TNT has covered the Western Conference Finals during even-numbered years since 2004. With TNT broadcasting this year’s West finals, Barkley and the rest of the “Inside the NBA” team are Minneapolis-bound for the first time in two decades.

Edwards didn’t have his best performance based on the Game 7 box score. But the two-time All-Star did hit a dagger three with just over three minutes left in the contest to put his team up by 10.

Edwards finished with 16 points on 6-of-24 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
